Shift Happens When You Act “Glocal” _________________ “Think Globally – Act Locally”
Living in Northern California with her two giant green iguanas Coral & Reef and her husband Jungle Jay, Jungle Jenny believes that change can happen when ordinary people join forces in their local community, support locally-owned businesses, which in turn allows ordinary people to connect & contribute in supporting their local community while building a better economy.Â
When the economy becomes more stable the ecology becomes more sustainable. Sustainability starts with individual actions at a local level – which can take place right in our own backyards.
Going “Glocal” or the term “glocalization” comes from the Japanese word dochakuka, meaning global localization. This method was first used by Japanese economists and then supported by sociologist Roland Robertson and Manfred Lange, former head of the Global Change Exhibition.
According to Andres R. Edwards, author of Thriving Beyond Sustainability – the glocal perspective recognizes that communities are linked to global systems through technologies such as the Internet, through natural resources including energy and food, through the economic ties of trade, labor and capital inflows, and through human impacts such as greenhouse gas emissions. Nevertheless, he states homegrown solutions are best suited for dealing with global issues facing communities.
By lifting levels of awareness throughout our planetary consciousness, this “Glocal Gal” hopes to inspire others to change their habits for their habitats and live with the intention of consciously caring for their community and all living systems on Earth.
JJ consciously cares for her community and supports the people who make and produce their products locally. For more information on how to support your local community go to:
